Alumni Testimony “For approximately 11 years, I worked as an engineer in several companies. Even though I was studying aerospace engineering at ITB, for most of my career, I worked as a stress analyst concerning piping engineering at several EPC companies. I believe, especially in today’s era, the subject that we take in college does not directly dictate the type of work we do when we graduate. As an engineer, the fundamental abilities that were acquired during my studies provided important foundation, especially at the beginning of my career. However, indeed, administratively, the name of our course often limits us when we first graduate from college. When I was graduated, the name of my major changed from aerospace engineering to aeronautics & astronautics. My classmates and I had some difficulties when we graduated and applying for jobs, because many companies misunderstood the name of our course. Many of us later worked in airlines, but me and some others were also able to prove that the skills we learned in college can contribute to other engineering industries. ” Note: The testimony is translated from its original text in Bahasa Indonesia.
